Islamic Legal Judgement

THE BEST IN ISLAMIC LEGAL JUDGMENT* By: Umm Affan Dhul-Qadah 10, 1437 (13-August-2016) I’ve talked about three, it’s now time to talk about the fourth companion whom the Prophet (SallaLlahu ‘Alayhi was-Salam) recommended (in a narration) that the Quran should be learnt from. Please! Join the jolly ride. His name is Mu’adh Ibn Jabal Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Khazraji Al-Ansari – one of the best student of the best teacher. He accepted Islam through Mus’ab Ibn Umayr (RadiyaLlahu ‘Anhu). He was a young, handsome, intelligent, and sharp and an eminent companion, the one who is referred to as the most knowledgeable in the matters of _Halal_ and _Haram_ over which he used to instruct people. He also studied and taught the Quran. Wherever Mu’adh went, people would refer to him for legal judgments on matters over which they differed. This earned him great respect amid people including other companions. Verily, Mu’adh was brought up in the “University” of the Prophet (SallaLlahu ‘Alayhi was-Salam) and he learnt as much as he could from him. In one of his lesson, the Prophet (SallaLlahu ‘Alayhi was-Salam) categorically told him: *“O Mu’adh! By Allah, I love you! So, I advise you to never forget to recite after every prayer: Allahuma a’inni ala dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni ‘ibadatika [O Allah, help me remember You, to be grateful to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner].”* [Sunan Abu Dawood] One of his greatest contributions to the _Ummah_ was that he became one of those that recorded the Quran during the lifetime of the Prophet (SallaLlahu ‘Alayhi was-Salam). I beseech Allah to be Especially Merciful to Mu’adh Ibn Jabal.
